An Afternoon In Notting Hill

Notting Hill | Essential Twenty

In the Autumn, I told myself I was going to visit more places in London. The week after writing that post I actually took a trip to Notting Hill but never took the chance to share the trip on here, so whilst I pull together some other content, it’s about time to tell you what I think about one of London’s most loved blogger photography spot.

Despite visiting London at least once a month, I had never ventured to Notting Hill. Since I knew nothing about the area, I followed this map. This talked me through the most beautiful areas, as well as taking a trip along Portobello Road Market.

Walking around on a beautiful October afternoon, I can see why so many people lust after the houses. With the average price of one of the much-loved homes retailing around £4-6 millon, I won’t be moving there anytime soon. Heck, I can’t even afford rent on a one bedroom flat where I live, unless I never want to go to London ever again.

I didn’t actually take as many photographs as I’d have liked to, mainly because I’m a bit of a wimp. I’m so embarrassed to pull out my camera in public. The beautiful pastel buildings are people’s homes! However, I did spot a couple of fashion shoots whilst I was wandering about and I’m jealous of their confidence.

Notting Hill, I’ll be back! Perhaps during the world famous Notting Hill Carnival on year; a celebration of the Afro-Caribbean culture in the local area every August Bank Holiday. Or maybe on a quieter day when I’m a little more confident walking about alone with a camera around my neck. Or maybe I’ll revisit when I’m finally happy enough to be in front of the camera. Where are your favourite spots in Notting Hill?
