Opening, Previewing & Closing, June 2018

Opening, Previews & Closing, June 2018 | Essential Twenty
June is a busy month for London theatre, with lots of shows opening and many closing to make room for new ones in the coming months. I haven’t got too much on my own personal show list this month, although I’m definitely hoping to catch a couple of the upcoming shows at some point over the summer!

Killer Joe (4th June with previews already commenced, Trafalgar Studios 1)
My Name Is Lucy Barton (6th June with previews from 2nd June)
Pressure (12th June with previews from 7th June, Ambassadors Theatre)
Heathers (12th June with previews from 9th June, The Other Palace)
The Secret lives of Baba Segi’s Wives (12th June with previews from 7th, Arcola Theatre)
Kiss Me, Kate (20th June, London Coliseum)
The Turn Of The Screw (25th June with previews from 22nd, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre)
One For Sorrow (26th June with previews from 20th, Royal Court Theatre)
Stick (26th June with previews from 22nd, Southwark Playhouse)
Fun Home (27th June with previews from 18th, Young Vic Theatre)
Infinite Joy (27th June with previews from 23rd, Southwark Playhouse)
The Winter’s Tale (27th June with previews from 22nd, Shakespeare’s Globe)
Genesis Inc (28th June with previews from 22nd, Hampstead Theatre)
If you’re looking for some cheaper tickets for shows that are opening next month, previews are beginning in June for the following:
The King & I (London Palladium, 21st June)
The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Noel Coward Theatre, 23rd June)
Spun (Arcola Theatre, 27th June)
Knights of The Rose (Arts Theatre, 29th June)
Sadly, in order to make way for new shows, shows that are currently running must depart. If you want to catch any of these you need to be quick!  I’m going to miss quite a few, but there are some that I’ve seen and reviewed, just in case you want to know my thoughts on whether you should catch them or not.
Building The Wall (2nd June, Park Theatre)
Chess (2nd June, London Coliseum)
Mindgame (2nd June, Ambassadors Theatre)
Not Talking (2nd June, Arcola Theatre)
The Prudes (2nd June, Royal Court Theatre)
Nightfall (3rd June, Bridge Theatre)
3Women (9th June, Trafalgar Studios 2)
Describe The Night (9th June, Hampstead Theatre)
Peter Pan (15th June, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre)
Confidence (16th June, Southwark Playhouse)
Quiz (16th June, Noel Coward Theatre)
Fatherland (23rd June, Lyric Hammersmith)
Ruthless (23rd June, Arts Theatre)
The Daughter-In-Law (23rd June, Arcola Theatre)
The Rink (23rd June, Southwark Playhouse)
Kiss Me, Kate (30th June, London Coliseum)
Leave Taking (30th June, Bush Theatre)
The Moderate Soprano (30th June, Duke of York’s Theatre)
Mood Music (30th June, Old Vic Theatre)
The Strange Death of John Doe (30th June, Hampstead Theatre)
The Two Noble Kinsmen (30th June, Shakespeare’s Globe)
The Turn of the Screw (30th June, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre)
Obviously this is not an exhaustive list, and I haven’t added too many short-running fringe shows into the list, but it gives you an idea of what’s coming up and what shows you need to catch quick. I was aiming to see Peter Pan, Confidence, and Kiss Me Kate before they close but I can’t see all of these happening now which is a real shame. Don’t miss out like I’m going to!
