    Empties #2

I love reading empties posts, they’re some of my favourites since people have probably really like a product if they’ve used it all up. Since my last empties post, I’ve used up a few goodies from the skincare and haircare department, and I thought I’d share them with you.

Since I’m on a spending ban, I’m trying to use up a lot of travel sized pieces I’ve got about the place. These include sample sizes minis of things that I bought just to try them out. I’ve used a couple of these bits before and are repurchases it, but most of these were brand new to me when I got them.

Dry shampoo is an essential for most girls, and after the hype surrounding Collab Dry Shampoo, I thought I’d support a fellow blogger and move away from the trusty Batiste. After using this, I won’t be going back to Batiste (apart from to use up the massive bottle I have waiting to be used up because of the spending ban). I didn’t realise how horrible it made my hair feel until I gave a different brand a go. I’ve actually almost finished my second can of this so it was one I repurchased, and will definitely repurchase one I’ve finished the Batiste. Badly photographed (you’ve see the weather recently, right?) is a trial Ren’s Vita-Mineral Day Cream. This is a mini that I’ve had for a long time and I’ve been leaving them at my boyfriend’s to use. This is quite a thick day cream so great for the winter months, but very heavy for the summer. I like this as a day cream, but I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing it over some more budget-friendly options. Rimmel’s Brow This Way is a product that popped up in my last empties so I’m not going to review it, but I won’t be repurchasing it. I’m currently using a clear mascara from Natural Collection as a brow gel because I’m still on the hunt for one I like.

Last summer (way back when), The Body Shop had two travel sizes of their Seaweed Toner and one of the Seaweed Face Washes in a set for a mere £3 so I bought them as travel sizes. My mum acquired one of the toners, but I have finally used up my bottle. It’s okay as far as toners go, but I prefer the other toner which will pop up later in this post and Pixi Glow Tonic. L’Oreal Sunkiss Jelly was my go to this summer for lightening my hair a little bit, and I think this is my fourth tube of this. It worked for a bit but then it seemed to stop, so I finished it this month just to make some room in my body and haircare drawer. This won’t be a repurchase for me. The Macadamia Oil Extract Foot Pack was an impulse purchase in B&M back in October. I thought it would be great as an intensive foot moisturiser. It worked, but it was freezing on my feet and I have another foot cream which works out much cheaper per application (as this one is a one time use) so I think I’ll stick to that for now.

The Lush Tea Tree Toner Water is one of my favourite toners on the market. I love using it to refresh my skin on no makeup days, and I love it when I’ve got a few spots on my skin. As this comes in a spray bottle, it lasts an age. I would definitely recommend picking this up in next time you’re in Lush, and I did as soon as I ran out. The Simple Eye Makeup Remover was another impulse buy before the summer and it’s one of the best drugstore eye makeup removers on the market. I have extremely sensitive eyes when it comes to makeup removers, and this doesn’t irritate them at all, as well as taking off my makeup super easily. I haven’t repurchased this, but I definitely will once I’ve next run out of all my other removers. My final product is another eye makeup remover, and it’s The Body Shop Camomile Eye Makeup Remover. I bought this after reading great reviews, and I really like the cleansing butter. However, this didn’t take off my makeup easily at all and it irritated my eyes so much. I wouldn’t have finished this if it wasn’t for my mother’s helping hand when we were on holiday.

Do you like empties posts? Are they informative to you or do you think they’re a waste of a post? Let me know in the comments below. And don’t forget I’m giving away Urban Decay’s Naked Smoky palette so check that giveaway out. I’m also hosting the #askablogger chat on Tuesday so pop by between 7pm and 8pm if you get the chance.

    August Favourites

I can’t quite believe that I’ve managed to stick to a schedule for an entire month. Wow. So this is my first ever favourites post, and as this goes live, I’ll have been in America for almost a week (if I’ve got my dates right, we’ll be leaving the Denver area today and heading to Monument Valley – I’m sure I’ll be tweeting and instagramming whilst in America, so you can check out my most recent posts by clicking the links there, at the bottom of this post, or in the Contact section). This favourites post was a little hard, because I’ve had this scheduled for a couple of weeks, so this is more like a mid-August favourites, but some of these bits have been favourites since before August started. Anyway, I’m going to stop rambling and get on with the post.

I’ve got a fairly good mix of makeup, skincare and bodycare (and even one haircare product, and I’m really not fussy with my hair) this month, so I’m going to dive right in with makeup – my actual favourite.

How I store my Skin, Body and Hair Care Products

Although I’ve been scheduling so many posts recently so my blog stays updated whilst I’m in America, it occurred to me that I didn’t have a post written for today. So in a weird make do blog post, I’m going to show you how I store my every day Skincare, Hair Care, and Body Care products. This is likely to change in September because I’m finally buying the 5 drawer IKEA Alex (eventually I want to get a second and the IKEA Linnmon Table Top to make a dressing table, but I’m a poor student and can’t afford that right now), but this is just how I keep it right now. I’m not 100% happy with it but it works for me for now, and it’s been fine whilst I’ve been home this summer.

This is the IKEA Billy Bookcase which I bought for my second year of university. My room was particularly small, and was lacking storage so I bought this as a cheap alternative to drawers. There is a shelf not pictured below here which currently houses my university textbooks and folders and stuff, and it’s the perfect length for them all.

My Top Beauty Products for An Early Morning

As a student, I go through a number of late nights/early morning combinations. The leaves me with tired eyes and tired skin, and I’ve tried more products than I can count in order to combat this. I have a few products which I swear by when I’ve got particularly tired looking eyes.
