Blogmas Day 20: Last Minute Christmas Gifts

So with just 5 days to go until the big day (!!!), I’m sure loads of you are in a moderate panic now. My mum rang me the other day complaining about all the stuff she still has to do, and I won’t be home until the 23rd to help her (not that I’m much use with my leg in a splint and on crutches). She’s gone into major stress mode now. I thought I’d try to help anybody in the same boat and share my favourite last minute gift ideas. This is particularly in mind of the busy people who have no idea what to buy for people who they’ve neglected to get a present for as of yet.

Day 20

I’ve seen a fair few ‘last minute’ gift ideas already, but they were around a week ago, and that’s not last minute to me. Let’s be honest, my dad will still be buying my mum’s Christmas present at 3pm on Christmas Eve (he is the definition of last minute. One year for my mum’s birthday, she went out the night before so dad dragged me and my brother to Tesco in our pyjamas at 9pm. We were around 8 and 6 years old). Maybe I’ll send a link to this post his way.

Experience Days Experience days can be bought in a number of stores (such as Boots) in cute little boxes if you’ve got the time to get to a shop between now and Christmas, but you can also get hundreds online. My favourites are Virgin Experience Days and Red Letter Days. If you get them online now, chances are you won’t be able to get a nice gift box for it, but you can print off all the information and put it in an envelope for someone. It’s not about how it’s presented, it’s about what’s on the inside. They have a whole host of different experiences including photoshoots, bungee jumps, afternoon tea and supercar drives. You can find something for literally anybody you want to find a present for.

Lush Gifts The gift boxes from Lush are the perfect last minute present. Once you’ve bought it, you don’t even need to wrap anything. They also have presents to suit every budget, from £8.95 all the way up to £100+. My personal Christmas favourites this year are Golden WonderThe Night Before ChristmasFestive Friends, Christmas Candy Box, Best WishesMerry ChristmasSweet Christmas, Christmas Bath Time FavouritesUnder the Mistletoe, and Winter Wonderland. I don’t usually go for a gift box and buy the individual items that I really want, but if you’re tight on time then these are absolutely perfect. If you’ve got any bath lovers in your life, this is what you need to be getting them.

Gifts from Amazon At this point, I’d usually be quite wary ordering online because things probably won’t arrive in time. However, Amazon’s next day delivery service is incredible. A couple of years ago I completely forgot to buy a gift for a friend and ordered something on the 21st for her which was at my house on the 22nd. Just make sure you order items that are fulfilled by Amazon and choose next day delivery at checkout.

Gifts from ASOS Similar to Amazon, ASOS offer next day delivery and you can get gifts delivered right up until Christmas Eve. If you choose standard delivery today it should arrive by Christmas too, but you have to be quick (see all delivery information here)! I always think that ASOS have some amazing gifts for everyone and below I’ve picked out some of my favourites for this season if you’re struggling with last minute gifts. My selection has varying pricing but everything here is below £100.

The Cop Out  So if you really do run out of time, money and gift vouchers are always highly appreciated in my mind. That way, the recipient will probably be incredibly happy since they don’t have to fake a smile at a gift that they don’t really want. This is probably more for children and teens, especially cash (I think it’s weird giving a non-family member cash if they’re an adult). But if in doubt for an adult? You can hit up a petrol station on Christmas day on the way to your host’s to pick up a firm favourite of mine – anything calorific or pretty (chocolate, wine and flowers).

Sure, you can make gifts which have a wonderful personal touch but chances are, you don’t have the time now. I hope this has given you some ideas if you’re seriously behind on your Christmas shopping!
