5 Work Makeup Picks

Work Makeup | Essential Twenty

With the weather warming up, my work makeup has changed a little recently. The lipsticks I’ve been wearing have a more pinky hue, and I’ve been going for a slightly less mattified look. Whilst I only have two more weeks of work until I get 7 weeks off (amazing, I know), I still have to try to look a little with it at work so here’s what I’ve been reaching for recently.

On my face, I’ve been reaching for the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Translucent Powder which I talked about fairly recently. I’ve only been using this since mid-May after finishing up my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and I hit pan a couple of days ago so this powder definitely doesn’t last all that long. I don’t think I’ll repurchase it when I’ve finished it up completely, but it’s a powder that works well for a dewy finish.

Another face product that has become a favourite for my work makeup routine is the Colour Pop Highlighter in Lunch Money which came highly recommended from Katie. I apply this to the high points of my face with my fingers then blend out with a brush and it’s a stunning shade!

The lipstick I’ve been relying on for work over the past year has finally bitten the dust, so I’ve been wearing the Clinique Pop Matte Lipstick in Nude Pop, which is a little more pink in tone than my classic MAC Velvet Teddy. This doesn’t last quite so long, but it’s a nicer tone for the warmer months and is super comfortable to wear. Definitely not as matte as I’m used to, but sometimes you just want comfort.

To both prime and set my makeup, I’ve been really enjoying the new Rimmel Insta Fix & Go which I’ve been trying out for a little while. This fixes my makeup to what I require on an average work day (although when we had that scorching weather last week it didn’t quite measure up to the Urban Decay All Nighter) and it’s a real two in one product which will be great for travelling! I’m really enjoying priming sprays at the minute with this muggy weather, and I’ve been really chuffed with this one so far.

Last, but by no means least, is a mascara I’ve been loving for about 5 months now (and it definitely should’ve been included in my mascara declutter, but I just can’t let it go), is the YSL Baby Doll Mascara. At £25 it isn’t cheap, but I just love what it does to my lashes! It holds a curl, it’s reasonably waterproof and it also volumises. It’s honestly perfect, I just wish it wasn’t so pricey (I hope it’s on sale again soon like it was when I bought it this time)

So that’s 5 products, a mix of a high end and drugstore, that I’ve been loving for work recently. What have your go-to products been in the past month or so?
