My Top Lipsticks Picks For Work

Top Lipsticks For Work

I have a collection of lipsticks full of varying colours, but I have a group that I know are perfect for work. I like something muted, something that lasts a long time, and something that fades evenly. Not a big ask, surely? But it’s taken me 5 months to put together a collection of lipsticks that are suitable for work!

My every day lipstick for work is MAC Velvet Teddy. It isn’t too deep, it fades evenly and lasts a fair few hours. I base most of my lipstick choices for work on this lipstick, and whether or not the new one is a good alternative. This year I’m trying to finish up some of my products, so when Velvet Teddy bites the dust, I need some new lippies to use.

A shade very similar to Velvet Teddy is Rimmel The Only 1 Matte in Trendsetter (review). It’s a little more cool toned, but it’s just as long lasting and better than half the price. Another shade that is similar to the MAC offering is the Bite Beauty Lumionous Creme Lipstick in Fig, although it is not as long wearing. The shade makes it worth the wear though and it’s a lipstick that fades evenly.

I love Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Very Victoria (review) for days when my lips have had enough of lipstick. This isn’t the longest wearing of lipsticks, but it’s beautifully balmy and comfortable to wear. It’s what I call my ‘Friday Lipstick’ as I wear it when my lips just need a break. Another really comfortable lipstick, but this time one that is a lot more long wearing is Too Faced Melted in Melted Chihuahua (review) – a stunning pink toned nude that is a long wearing, non-drying liquid lipstick. I sometimes reach for the shade Chocolate Honey if I want something more brown toned, rather than the pink of Chihuahua.

Lipsticks that I know will last all day are matte liquid lipsticks. The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks (review) are some of my favourite liquid lipsticks because they’re comfortable, long wearing and come in gorgeous colours. I reach for Serenata on a regular basis if I want a deep rose lipstick for work, and it’s been well loved since I’ve had it in my collection. The final liquid lipstick that I love or work is TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes in Sincere (review), which is another dusky rose shade and another lipstick that lasts all day without any top up required.

What are your go to lipsticks for work? I’m looking forward to switching it up to warmer colours as the months follow suit, although I doubt I’ll be going for summer brights!
