I don’t know about you, but I enjoy buying gifts for people. What I struggle with is finding presents that don’t break the bank and are a little different. But is different always what you want? I’ve got a post to help you if you really don’t know what to buy this year for your other half, or maybe you’re having a friends day for Valentines this year and want to treat them to a little something.
Jack and I don’t go all out on Valentines Day, it’s just not us. Instead we tend to buy a little thing for each other and I make us a nice meal (I really don’t see the appeal of being crammed into a restaurant surrounded by other couples).
This year, one of a the little gifts that I’ve bought for Jack is this Classic Kitchen Brownie Mix. He’s not great at baking, but I know that he tries. I thought this would be a great way for him to try his hand at baking since all you need to do is a add eggs, butter and milk. It was only £1.49 in B&M and I know you can get similar products in places like New Look in the homeware section. To be fair, this would be pretty easy to make for yourself for gifting by weighing the dry ingredients out and layering in a Kilner jar.
Another gift I think is a fantastic idea is this Alphabet LED Light Decoration* from Sass & Belle. I’ve used mine as a blog prop for quite a while and realised that I’ve never told you where I got it from. To be honest, I love everything on the Sass & Belle website and they’ve got some beautiful gifts on there. At £13 this is a cute personal gift that would suit everybody in your life; suitable for every occasion.
After a quirky gift? I’ve been loving these Chatty Feet Socks* which come in a variety of famous faces. Both Jack and myself have the Albert Einstoe socks, but I’m definitely eyeing up the Kate Middletoe socks and a few of the sock sets. They even sell sets for couples – two pairs of socks; one for him and one for her. A really cute way of gifting yourself as well as your other half on the big day!
I don’t think it’s absurd to expect flowers from my other half of Valentines Day, since I don’t often get them through the year. Why not drop a few hints like I have to on the reg, and even slip them a discount code to Blossoming Gifts – they’re offering 33% off any of their bouquets with the code BGIFTS33. The above arrangement is the Brighton Rock Bouquet* which is a great alternative to plain roses if you want a little more colour in your flowers. Hey, I’m not afraid to drop hints and after writing this I’m off to send Jack links to some beautiful flowers!
Still at a bit of a loss as to what to buy this valentines? It may seem impersonal, but I think a magazine subscription is one of those gifts that keeps on giving. I treated myself to a six month Jamie Oliver magazine subscription before Christmas (Jamie is my bae) and I definitely wouldn’t say no to another subscription – great for the commute and there is definitely a subscription for everybody’s pocket and interests.
And if you’re still stuck on what to buy? Well, I can’t help – I’m out of ideas myself!
