Taking us on a brief whirlwind version of The Gold Perfume Experience*, I wanted to tell you about what they do because I think it’s pretty damn cool.
Lining up a row of different dropper bottles (I felt like I was back at work to be honest, I’m constantly filling these with iodine and methylene blue) full of top, middle and base notes, we got a sniff our way through to pick our favourite scents. It’s a little overwhelming to begin with, with
Although I was talked though perfumery basics at The Perfume Shop a few months ago, including the various notes and how to smell a perfume properly, I was so interested to be able to work through the different scents separately. I combined Fruity (top), Exotic Fruity (middle) and Gourmand (base) to create a fragrance that is me. It seems to smell like a combination of CK One Shock, Marc Jacobs Lola & DKNY Delicious Night, which is a combination of my current favourite fragrance, and two of my previous favourites. Which actually makes complete sense.
We got the express experience as there were about 40 of us to get through, but the full experience retails from £39 all the way up to a price that makes me flinch. But if you know somebody who loves fragrance but have no idea what to buy them for Christmas, I think I’ve found you the perfect gift! 2 hours of learning how to blend perfume and getting to walk away with a personalised fragrance sounds like a gift that I would love to receive.
I can’t wait to get more use out of my fragrance (named Twenty Two after my age) and maybe even reorder, because it truly is my dream perfume. Yes, you read that correctly, you an reorder! My 5ml sample obviously won’t last me too long, but your fragrance is recorded and can be reordered in replacement bottles of up to 30ml. I might even start ordering to regift to other people…or is that a little narcissistic?
