Just before Christmas I shared my collection of red lipsticks that would survive Christmas dinner, and since today is New Year’s Eve, I know you’re all looking for a lipstick to survive until midnight and beyond.
It would be wrong for me not to talk about makeup in my last post of 2016, and whilst I was going to pick my favourite beauty products of the year I just couldn’t narrow it down. So instead I’m chatting about the best non-red lipsticks that will last you into 2017.
In this post is a variety of high end and drugstore offerings, and a few more of a more traditional lipstick rather than a load of liquid lipsticks, but there are obviously still my favourite liquid lipstick formulas in there. The issue I found when putting this post together than the best lipsticks all come from the same brands that appeared in the last post, rather than there being a ton of new brands. This is simply because the formula of these lipsticks are to die for, and that’s why I have these in a number of shades (but there are a few differences).
The lipsticks in this post are mostly nudes and berry tones (the more vampy shades seemed appropriate for this time of year), and to be honest these are the shades that I wear the most. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Serenata has been one of my most worn shades since I picked up the Naturally Nude set at the back end of November. This is a brown toned nude which is my go-to shade and it truly sticks around all day.
I love the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick formula, and after mentioning Double Dare in my previous post, it seemed wrong not to include the two other shades in my collection. Lolita is a deep dusty rose, with Bow N Arrow being a paler, more fawn shade. I wear these both frequently, and they last a really long time on the lips.
I’ve put a couple of the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick* shades in this edit (which I also did in my previous post), but they’re pretty fantastic lipsticks. Trendsetter is such an incredible every day nude and I often wear it to work, with Run The Show being a little more ‘out there’ but if you’re into those brighter colours then it’s definitely for you. Check out full lip swatches in my review post of these lipsticks.
The Sleek Matte Me lipsticks are one of the best bargain liquid lipsticks on the market, coming in at £4.99. I picked up Birthday Suit around 18 months ago, and wear it in the warmer months due to the pink hue but is a beautiful nude on a variety of skin tones. Vino Tinto* is a deep wine shade which I haven’t got as much use out of as I’d have liked, but it’s the perfect vampy shade for these cooler months.
MAC Diva is my most recent MAC lipstick addition, but it is identical to Maybelline Divine Wine if you don’t fancy blowing £15.50 on a lipstick (they’re both incredible lipsticks). Another deep wine shade, this is beautiful for autumn and winter and is another lipstick that lasts all day.
I love the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Matte lipsticks, and they’re an absolute steal coming in at £3.50 per lipsticks. I have four of these, and they’re all fabulous, but Berry-Much is another purple toned lipstick which I know we all love to wear around this time of year.
And last but not least is TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes in Dedicated. I love these lipsticks, especially the nudes, but it made sense to include something a little more pink-toned in this roundup so I’ve opted to this one. It really will last all day if you need something along those lines.
And that’s my final post of 2016! How is it 2017 tomorrow? And how am I supposed to keep up this schedule? Well, I’m not. From tomorrow, I will be posting every other day for the forseeable future, so see you then!
