It’s been a little while since I posted my skincare wishlist, and since then I’ve gone a little skincare crazy. I love seeing which skincare bits and pieces people have been buying, so I thought I’d share with you what I’ve either picked up or been sent over the past month or so. I’m actually splitting this into two posts as there’s been a lot of new skincare added to my collection recently!
I leave a minimal amount of skincare products at Jack’s flat so that when I stay I don’t have to lug about a ton of products. A day cream, a night cream, a cleanser, a micellar water, a toner…but no eye cream apparently. Last time I stayed, I picked up the Superdrug Vitamin E Nourishing Eye Cream and loved it so much, I had to take it home with me! Whilst I don’t really suffer with dark circles or puffiness (apart from after a rare late night), I do find my skin to be quite dry under my eyes so I’m always looking for a new product to help with this issue! As I said, so far I’m in love and can’t wait to use it more and give you my full thoughts when I’ve been using it a little longer.
Another drugstore skincare item I picked up last month was the Simple Dual Effect Eye Makeup Remover, which I’m really excited to try. I love the original Simple Eye Makeup Remover, as it works wonders and it doesn’t irritate my skin, and I’m hoping this lives up to my expectations. When I’ve used up my Boots Essentials Eye Makeup Remover, I’ll be moving on to this and hopefully I’ll love it just as much! Then again, maybe not as the Boots one is a fair bit cheaper, even when the Simple remover is on offer.
Towards the end of April, The Body Shop were offering 30% off and a free gift if you spent over £25 to their Love Your Body Club members. I went in thinking I’d pick up a liquid lipstick – which I did – but came out with over £50 worth of skincare products! For the first time ever, the discount included brands that are newer to the company, which meant I finally picked up some of The Body Shop Expert Facial Masks. Each of these masks come in 75ml glass jars, which definitely feel more luxurious than their other masks (such as the Seaweed Ionic Clay Masks) that come in plastic packaging. I’ve been noticing that my face is looking a little dull recently, and it needs all the help it can get! Therefore the first mask I chose was The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask, which can be used 2-3 times per week to reveal a brighter and more even skin surface. The second mask I went for was The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask, as this is another mask that appears to boost skin brightness. I need to fight all signs of fatigue in my skin, and I’m hoping that using these masks interchangeably will do just the trick!
The free gift that came alongside spending £25 in The Body Shop was some of the Vitamin E skincare range. Vitamin E is clearly a firm favourite to fight dryness amongst other skin issues which is why it’s found in so many skincare products. This gift was two items in the Vitamin E Range: the first was The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser, with the second being The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. I’m not a lover of the cream cleanser, as I’ve mentioned before, but I’m always interested to see how various cleansers remove makeup. The moisture cream is in a 50ml pot and is a very lightweight formula, so perfect for travelling and using during the summer months.
I think you can probably guess from this post already that I’m a big face mask fan. In fact, you only have to dive into a post I wrote last summer about my face mask collection to see how much I love them! In fact, I have an updated face mask collection coming to my blog next week so keep your eyes peeled for that. Another face mask I’ve recently picked up is the L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask which I’ve had my eye on since trying the Glow Mask and the Purity Mask last summer. I can’t wait to multimask with the full collection, and maybe put together a comparison on the three!
The final products I want to show you in this post are from Soap & Glory, and again, are both masks that I’ve had my eye on for a little while. The first is the Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed: a self-heating deep pore detox mask for combination skin. I love a deep cleansing product, and I’m hoping that this will do the trick! The other mask I picked up is the Soap & Glory The Fab Pore, which is a 2-in-1 pore purifying mask and peel, also for combination skin. This is another deep cleaning product which can be used 1-3 times per week, as needed.
I’m coming up to 900 words now, and I still have 8 higher end items to talk about, so I think I’ll leave those until Wednesday’s post or I’ll be rambling for ages. I’m definitely planning on reviewing as many of these items as possible but give me a shout on twitter if you want to know my first impressions as I’ve been testing a lot of these out already and have an initial opinion to share.
Have you tried out any of these products? What do you think of them? Don’t forget to check back in a couple of days for my high end post!
