September Favourites 2015

Only three more months until 2015 is over! I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone. With it being the beginning of October, I have a new favourites post coming at you.

I spent the first half of September in America so a few of these products I discovered there and used a lot on my travels, but the other half of the month I was in the UK moving to my new flat and I’ve had the chance to use up bits that I left here.

I have a stupid amount of mascaras, as seen in Tuesday‘s post, and I very briefly mentioned the Maybelline Lash Sensational at the end of the post. This was a purchase I made in America after seeing endless amazing reviews and I’m so glad I did. Since buying this, I’ve used it probably 3 out of 4 days that I’ve worn makeup. It has the most gorgeous fan effect on my lashes and I’m really getting on with it right now.

My favourite makeup to buy is eyeshadow, and Stila have gorgeous shadows. Their pigmentations are are out of this world and they are so long lasting. I have three of their palettes, but when I saw the Pigalle Eyeshadow for a mere £2 in TK Maxx in August, I had to have it. This is the most beautiful red/purple shade (I can’t really describe it) but it’s just a lovely crease colour. I love TK Maxx for makeup, and I wrote a post about how much I love it. Like most other things I’ve bought from TK Maxx, this doesn’t disappoint and I can’t wait to get more use out of it this autumn.

I feel like I’m very late to the party as when I was in America, I picked up my first ever MAC lipstick. I always used to think that £15.50 was excessive for a lip colour as I never wore lipstick of any kind until about 18 months ago. However, at around $18 once you’d added the tax, it seemed a lot more reasonable to pick one up in America. I bought Velvet Teddy and have used it almost every day since I’ve been back from America (other than one day where I wore the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, but I think that deserves a post all to itself). I can see why people love these lipsticks, as they have the most long wearing formulation of a standard lipstick. A lot of people I’ve spoken said that the Topshop Lipsticks are very similar, and I see where they’re coming from, but personally I find the MAC ones are a lot nicer in terms of the wearability of colour, the longevity, and how they feel on the lips. Not that I don’t love the Topshop Lipsticks, but this is gorgeous. I could definitely see myself creating quite the collection of MAC lipsticks.

Another lip product I’ve been loving is the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick 3D Volume Lip Shine in Technicoral. It’s coming out of summer and we’re in autumn now so I feel like I won’t be able to wear this for a while, but whilst I was on holiday, this was incredible. It’s the most beautiful coral , which is definitely on the orange side. And whilst I normally wouldn’t wear such a bright lip colour, I just thought it was amazing. I’ve since bought three more, as mentioned in my most recent haul, just because I love the formulation and a couple of those have a much more autumnal colouring so I can still get some use out of the product.

My last makeup product is the Maybelline Master Sculpt contour kit in whatever the lightest shade is called. I bought this either at the end of July or beginning of August after lusting after it for a while. As I have a tan right now, the contour shade is a little too light and needs a lot of building up, but this will be a great contour shade for the winter. I actually really like the highlighter because it’s so subtle and has the tiniest amount of shimmer. It’s just so beautiful for every day wear unliek a lot of my highlighters which are a lot more glittery.

The Bramley Candle pictured is has the most gorgeous scent ever (Rose Absolute and Spearmint), and I actually won this from Katie in association with Oates & Co. I’m actually yet to light this candle as it’s so beautiful that I don’t want to use it up. The fragrance emitted even when unlit fills the room, and I’m actually using it as an air freshener right now. I’m sure when it gets a bit cooler I will be lighting this but I’m actually quite content with it just sitting on my bedside shelves (tables are too mainstream for me apparently). I would definitely consider picking up another scent but I’ll let you know, probably on twitter, how I feel about the candle when I stop using it as an air freshener and use it as an actual candle.

I have been listening to The Last Five Years 2013 Off-Broadway Revival Soundtrack non-stop for about three months, and I meant to put the film in my favourites last month but completely forgot. However, I have watched it five times since being home from America, and I’m bound to watch it more and more. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re easily confused or not a huge fan of musicals, as it can be a bit weird, but Jason Robert Brown’s score is incredible, and Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan definitely do the characters the justice they deserve.

My final September favourite is Fruit By The Foot. These are very similar to fruit winders here in the UK, but just so much nicer. My aunt sends me these occasionally but when I was in Walmart in Fort Worth, I picked up a box. I actually wish I’d bought more because I’ve almost ran out, but I got the last one on the shelf so I couldn’t. If anybody knows where they sell them in the UK, please let me know!
