When I had my most recent beauty declutter, I included all the tools that I don’t use and vowed not to buy any more unless it’s to replace things like beauty blenders. But I couldn’t resist the Real Techniques Prep & Prime set when it was just £5.99 in Superdrug recently, especially to get myself a new Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge for virtually the same price.
The Real Techniques Prep & Prime set contains four tools to truly get your base perfect, from skincare to foundation. The Beauty Spatula is double-ended semi-flexible plastic scoop, with two slanted tips to retrieve the very last dregs of your creams and moisturisers; far more hygienic than dipping your fingers in (which I’m very much a culprit of). The Under Eye Reviver is a stationary aluminium ball to give a cooling massage under the eyes. I apply my eye cream, both morning and night, using this by dipping the reviver lightly into my eye cream then rolling under my eyes. It definitely makes me look more awake in the morning, and I love the cooling effect.
I don’t know who uses the brushes marketed a flat foundation brushes as actual foundation brushes, but I have quite a collection of them. But these are brilliant for prepping this skin, and in this particular set it is marketed as a Prep Brush. This is a much more hygienic way of applying moisturisers, primers and masks (although when it comes to moisturisers I do much prefer to use my hands as I’m able warm the product up a little first), especially when fishing them out of tubs and pots.
The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is the first beauty sponge I ever used, and I loved it until I bought my first Beauty Blender. It’s definitely time to chuck a couple of my sponges out as they are far past their use by, no matter how often I clean them, and I’ll be replacing them with this sponge for until I can justify the £16 for a new one. But besides the under eye reviver, I am in love with the Sponge Stand. It’s such a simple idea, but it works so well. It’s the perfect size for both Beauty Blenders and the RT Miracle Complexion Sponges, and stops them rolling all over the place as well as being a great place to get them to dry out properly and reduce the chance of mold growth.
This set was a real bargain, that is unfortunately unavailable right now but definitely keep your eye out for it if you’re a big Real Techniques fan, because I’m in love.
