Products I Regret Buying #1

Hello everybody. Hope you’re all having a wonderful September so far. As this post goes live, I’ll be in LA, and today we’re doing some major sightseeing (or at least that’s the plan). Unfortunately, I’ve got a bit of a negative post today, but hopefully this will help someone so it’s probably worth it. Because I love all things beauty, I get buy a lot of products so there are always going to be things that don’t quite hit the spot for me. And as you’ll see below, there are reasons more than the actual product as to why I regret buying (my stupidity mainly), but it doesn’t mean that I don’t like other products by the brand. Anyway, without any more unnecessary rambling, here are some products that I regret buying.

L’Oreal Superliner in Black Crystals This eyeliner has got nothing wrong with it, and it’s my own fault that it’s in here. This is because I picked it up and didn’t read the colour properly. My main issue with it is because it’s sparkly, it’s not that black. It’s a weird watery deep grey, and just doesn’t seem to go with that much. I don’t want to get rid of it though, because I’m determined to make it work. I’ll probably give it another attempt when I’m back at university and have my evenings to myself to play around with makeup again.

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 01 Like the above product, this is my own fault. I have quite pale skin, and swatching it in store it seemed like a good match. But like with so many stores, my local Body Shop has really poor lighting. I do actually have this in 02 as well which is a much better match, and I’m thinking about picking up 03 for a summer shade (getting that tan on).

The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in 225 Gabby raved about this lipstick non-stop in spring and towards the beginning of summer, and it looked gorgeous on her. I swatched it a couple of times, and after about two months of uhm-ing and ah-ing, I took the plunge and…I’ve never worn it. I’ve tried it at home and it just doesn’t look right on me. My mum has worn it a couple of times so if I can’t make it work, I think I’ll just donate it to her. The consistency is fine, it’s literally just the colour I have an issue with.

Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Perfector Oil Another product that Gabby talked about last year was the Sleek Perfector Oil. Although I don’t know why I thought this would work for me, since it’s for dry/frizzy hair, and I have quite greasy hair. I do not need to add excess oil to my hair. It doesn’t seem to soak in and although it smells nice, it’s not nice enough for me to will it to work. Thankfully, this was on half price when I bought it so I didn’t drop a bomb on it. This has been donated to my mum now, as I have literally no use for it anymore.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser This primer is pants; it’s just silicone in a tube. My skin feels so unnatural when it’s on and even though it’s supposed to prime, my makeup seems to slip off when I use it. It’s an obvious attempt at Benefit’s Porefessional in consistency, but done appallingly. I’ll stick to more expensive primers in future. This one needs to head straight to the bin. Sorry Maybelline.

Barry M Flawless Concealer This shouldn’t be called a concealer, it’s definitely a brightener. It doesn’t conceal any of my blemishes or dark circles, but it’s okay as a brightener. But I’ve used better brighteners, so it seems like an odd product to have. I won’t be repurchasing, but I’ll see if I can find a use for it somewhere because I’m sure it must work for something.

Sorry about the negativity, but I’ll try and be more positive with my next post.
