I can’t quite believe that I’ve managed to stick to a schedule for an entire month. Wow. So this is my first ever favourites post, and as this goes live, I’ll have been in America for almost a week (if I’ve got my dates right, we’ll be leaving the Denver area today and heading to Monument Valley – I’m sure I’ll be tweeting and instagramming whilst in America, so you can check out my most recent posts by clicking the links there, at the bottom of this post, or in the Contact section). This favourites post was a little hard, because I’ve had this scheduled for a couple of weeks, so this is more like a mid-August favourites, but some of these bits have been favourites since before August started. Anyway, I’m going to stop rambling and get on with the post. I’ve got a fairly good mix of makeup, skincare and bodycare (and even one haircare product, and I’m really not fussy with my hair) this month, so I’m going to dive right in with makeup – my actual favourite.

I love stationery. Stationery is love, Stationery is life. Let’s be honest, how many bloggers reading this don’t love stationery? It’s cute, it’s affordable (usually), and it keeps you organised. I have a really boring blog organisation system but it works so I’m scared to change it up. However, being a student, I can get away with still buying stationery and just say that it’s for university (it isn’t, it’s to look at and hold when I’m sad). Since school and college and university are all starting soon, there are so many deals on stationery, and so many gorgeous bits and pieces out there that I have been lusting over, so I thought I’d share with you what I’ve been wanting to pick up. My favourite places to pop in for stationery at the moment are Paperchase and Urban Outfitters, but you can pick up some lovely bits from other places (as you’ll see in this post).

With another birthday approaching, I’d like to reflect on how I was as a 16 years old. In fact, I was quite different. My makeup consisted of a bit of Bourjois Kohl & Contour Black Liner in my waterline, a bit of Natural Collection Pressed Powder in my T-zone, and a Natural Collection or Collection stick concealer if I needed it (then called Collection 2000) – hey, I was doing better than my green shimmer Collection 2000 eyeshadow that I wore everyday when I was 13. I wore DKNY Delicious Night perfume, and I had no clue about most things. Okay, so not a lot has changed. However, there are a few bits that I’ve learnt since progressing past my 16th year that I wish I’d have known back then.

Tomorrow afternoon, I’m jetting off to America for 20 days of sightseeing. We’re visiting so many places in such a short space of time and I’ve got no idea how we’re going to do it, but my dad thinks it’s possible so we’re giving it a go. Although I’ve packed my case with all my general bits and pieces, I do have essentials for being on board a plane, but I’ve added a few extras to my normal routine since this is my first long haul flight in 13 years. Sorry that this may be a ‘boring’ post, but writing this has reminded me of things to pack so it’s been helpful to me. And hopefully it’ll be helpful to you too. There are a variety of things I like to take when I travel: beauty products, entertainment and, of course, travel documents. Here is a run down of what I think are essentials when I’m travelling by plane. But if you’re more interested in the things I take whilst travelling my train, check out this post here from earlier in the month.

Like most beauty bloggers out there, I love Lush. It’s one of my favourite shops to go in and I can’t help but have the occasional splurge. On Monday, I popped in because I had just run out of my Tea Tree Water Toner, and toning is a step I never miss out in my skin care routine. But as I was in there, I was speaking to the always lovely Adam (I never remember his name, it’s just on the receipt) at the Peterborough store. He always manages to convince me to buy more than I need. And £16 later, I left with three bath bombs, as well as the toner water. Hey, at least I managed to get what I went in for!

I wanted to write a post on achieving goals, but didn’t have any inspiration for it. That was until I popped into Next a couple of weekends ago and saw this glass plaque. At first, it reminded me of Louise, but as I continued to follow my mum around the store, I got the inspiration for this post. Unfortunately, I can’t find a link to the plaque online but if you have a Next with a reasonably-sized homeware section, you might be able to pick it up. Sparkle can be thought of as belief, and therefore help. I think to be able to achieve goals, you need to have to believe in yourself, but also have assistance. Whether that is friends and family, or help from blogs and websites. I rely on my boyfriend a lot to help me achieve what I want to achieve; he’s my absolute rock.
