After a weekend full of family antics, I do not have the energy to write an inspired post. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family to pieces, but it’s tiring being with them. I think I’ve had approximately 3 waking hours to myself in the last 4 days, and I’m a person who needs their space.
I was a little bit stupid when I came home from uni because I didn’t bring all of the products I wanted to talk about in my 2015 roundup, so I’m having to compromise. Today is all about some of my favourite makeup discoveries of the year (thankfully I did have most of these with me at home). This isn’t my favourite products of all time, just products I’ve bought this year and really fallen in love with.
Urban Decay Naked 2 I was maybe a little late on the Naked Palette bandwagon, but I’m glad I’m up to speed. I think I’ve used every shade in this palette and one point of another over the year because they’re all so wearable. This is my go-to palette for travel as it’s super sturdy, and contains some of the most beautiful shades.
MAC Velvet Teddy I was definitely late on the VT bandwagon (the whole MAC lipstick bandwagon in fact), but this impromptu little purchase in Fort Worth, TX was one of my greatest in America. This is one of the creamiest mattes I’ve ever owned, and also one of the most wearable shades in my ever-growing lipstick stash.
Maybelline Lash Sensational I’d heard amazing things about this mascara over the blogosphere and I knew I needed to get my hands on it. Everything you have heard about this mascara is true and it’s honestly the best one in my collection. I almost forgot to bring it home and I would’ve been devastated if I couldn’t use it over Christmas.
Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer Another Maybelline product I’d read lots of positive reviews about (they did a good job in my eyes this year) and had to get my hands on. This is one of the few concealers that doesn’t crease under my eyes and covers my dark circles from the sleepless nights worrying about uni work.
Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer I’ve tried so many primers this year, but this is the stand out one for me. It is the only primer that increases the longevity of my makeup without leaving a greasy layer on my face. If you’ve still not found the primer for you, I’d definitely give this one a go. In my opinion, S&G have killed it with their makeup line (especially the releases over the last 18 months) and I’m so glad they branched out from body care!
I’d also like to give a little shout out to my babies who are still at uni who would’ve made this list if they were here to photograph: Lorac Pro Palette, Zoeva Cocoa Blends Palette (I love eyeshadow, okay), Mary Lou-Manizer and Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in Divine Wine.
Have you discovered any makeup gems this year?
PS. I won’t be back before New Year’s Day now, so have a spectacular New Year’s Eve!
