I am really bad at decluttering. In fact, when I decluttered my makeup collection a couple of weeks ago a fair few items went back into my stash a few days later.
That’s my drawer of face and body products, with hair being stored elsewhere. I know, it’s pretty bad. I somehow need to get through all of this before it expires and there are a few ways I’m going to do this.
Declutter Regularly Once a month I want to go through this and check I’m going to use it. Ask my mum and friends if they want any of these items and if not, just get rid. Most items in the drawer pictured above are unopened other than the face masks (that’s so bad) so I can easily donate these too.
Stop Spending Unnecessarily We all know that I buy a lot of a makeup, but I also buy a lot of skincare. I love trying face masks, eye makeup removers, micellar waters and toners so as soon as I see a new one on offer I just have to pick them up. From now on, that’s a big no. Let’s just get through this stash!
Get my samples used up I seem to get a lot of samples and I honestly don’t know how I acquire them. I don’t get sent that many, so I must get them in deliveries but it’s getting a little out of hand now. Over the next week I’m going to pull out a few samples and try them out and share my thoughts. Then once I’ve done this, I can decide which products I’ll repurchase after I’ve used everything else up.
Stop Repurchasing Favourites As soon as I’ve used up a product I love, I repurchase it. But this means I end up using the same products all the time and all my others are left untouched. I need to stop this and try out all the bits I’ve got before I go back to old faves.
I am determined to get through this drawer, even if it takes me literal years! Are you a hoarder or do you stick to your basics?
