As a third year, I don’t go out anywhere near as often as I did in first and second year. However, it doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy getting dolled up a night of drinking with friends (I mean I’m a beauty blogger so I always love getting dolled up).
My makeup for a night out isn’t dissimilar to my my every day routine; just a little more dramatic.
I’ve been loving the Nivea Post Shave Balm as a primer recently, and I often pair this with Rimmel Wake Me Up and Maybelline Eraser Eye. I always set my makeup with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent and it keeps my makeup on all night. For face I’ve been loving Maybelline Master Sculpt for contour, Nars Laguna for an all over bronze, Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso and Topshop Highlighter in Crescent Moon.
I love the Smashbox Shape Matters Palette for filling in my brows, and setting them with the Natural Collection Clear Mascara (why spend £10 on a brow gel when I can spend £2, right?). On my eyes I’ve been testing out the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette, which you can read my full thoughts on here. This particular look uses Bathwater on the inner corner, Pop all over the lid, Baby through the crease and on the lower lash line, and Punk through the outer crease, with my usual Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base. However, the size of the lashes covered more of this look.
These are the Threads Be-Bop Lashes* which are available at Harvey Nichols for £9 per pair. These lashes aren’t really my cup of tea – I like to go for more of a natural lash which fans out at the outer corner, whereas these are. I found these to be quite heavy on my lashes, but if you tend to go for a fuller lash when it comes to falsies these are probably more up your street.
I used the long standing Bourjois Kohl & Contour Liner in my tightline (this has been as staple in my makeup bag for ten years and I still love it), L’Oreal Super Liner in Perfect Slim, and Seventeen Long Lash Mascara* (my favourite mascara right now).
To finish off this look I used MAC Whirl lipstick which I won from Jordan, as I love a matte lip on a night out. I haven’t got time or patience to be reapplying lipstick with shaky, drunken hands, and what’s the point in wearing a lipstick that will come off after one drink? God bless matte lipsticks! I also chose to set this with the Makeup Revolution Setting Spray. It isn’t quite as good as my favourite Urban Decay one, but if you’re on a budget this is definitely a great option.
Excuse the lipstick smudge in the above photo (it was late when I took this – good ol’ soft box lights), but this is my finished look. I hate wearing something too heavy on a night out as it runs down my face when I get sweaty.
What are your go to products on a night out? Let me know if I need to invest!
