Minimal Skincare Collection

Up until Monday, I spent the last two months living with a minimal skincare and makeup. As I was leaving my uni life behind and moving back in with my parents, I had to pack everything up. I made the trip home twice already and I’m doing it a third time this weekend. The important things for me to take home was my makeup and skincare stash, so they are already with me and I’m just waiting on my last few bits.

However, I did have to live with the smallest stash I’ve had since I was about 14 so that was crazy for me. These aren’t necessarily my favourite products, they’re what I’m trying to get used up at the moment.

In terms of makeup remover, I’ve had four products remain in my stash. I’m currently trying to use up the Botanics Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution All Bright which I don’t love. It’s okay, but it isn’t as good as Bioderma or the Garnier Micellar Water, and it’s got the most ridiculous opening. It is the size of the lid, and it’s very difficult to control how much you’re using at any time. I’ve ended up using this at about ten times the rate I’ve used any other micellar water. Th eye makerup remover I’ve been using is the Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover, which is another product that I don’t love. It does the job, but it leaves a very greasy residue on my eyes. I wouldn’t want to use this to take off all of my makeup, but it’s fine for eye makeup for now. It’s only a travel size so I don’t feel too bad about buying it, but this is another product that I won’t be repurchasing when I run out.

I won’t be repurchasing this but it’s not so awful that I can’t finish it up. If you read my post on my favourite toners, you’ll know that the Lush Tea Tree Toner and the Pixi Glow Tonic. I couldn’t choose between the two so I was greedy and kept two in my mininal skincare stash.

I didn’t keep any serums or oils in my collection for this short time, just because I don’t really use them on a day-to-day basis and they would just take up an unnecessary amount of space. The eye cream I’ve been using recently is the Boots Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream, which is fine. It works as an eye cream and is lighter than you’re standard moisturiser, but it’s not as good as my favourite one (Clinique All About Eyes). I’m starting to notice fine lines around my eyes, which is very sad since I’m only 21, so eye cream is very important to me.

For day cream I’ve been loving the Soap & Glory Speed Plump, which as you can probably tell, I’m almost out of it. This sits so beautifully under makeup and I will definitely be repurchasing it once I’ve got through the rest of my day creams (I’m been trying to cut down on my skincare stash as no girl needs as much as I have). And for night cream is another product which I’m quickly running out of. I love the REN V-Cense Revitalising Night Cream, and have since I got a few samples of it a few years back. When I run out I won’t be rushing out to buy it any time soon as I have a back up of my other favourite (Boots Botanics All Bright), but I do love this. Although I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re sensitive to scents as it has a particularly strong scent.

Thankfully I have all my skincare back with me again now (face masks galore), but I will still continue to use these until I’ve used them all up.

What are your current go-to products in your skincare routine?
