Mascaras Currently In Rotation

on August 30, 2016

I honestly think the product that I buy the most of is mascara. I am not even kidding when I say I have upwards of 20 unopened mascaras, just because I really enjoy buying and testing them out.

However, since I did a makeup declutter around a month ago I decided to work my way through my mascaras rather than having loads open all at once because of course they go off. I currently have these 7 mascaras in rotation with very mixed opinions on them. I understand that mascara is a very personal thing, and something that I may love you may hate, but these are the ones I’m currently reaching for on a day to day basis.

Seventeen Long Lash* is not a mascara that I would’ve usually gone for as I tend to look for volume and curl in a mascara, not length. But since having this is fast become one of my all time favourites! I love how natural this looks, and it is perfect for no makeup days.

Benefit Roller Lash came out over a year ago and it still seems to be everyone’s favourite but I’m not loving it that much at the moment. I am a terrible person and used a sample that was a year old recently and adored it so went out and bought the full size, but I can’t say it’s my favourite. I feel like it needs to dry out a little before I’ll fall back in love with it.

Maybelline Lash Sensational was my favourite mascara from September to around March time and it’s still up there as one of my all time favourites. I recently chucked the original tube but picked up the waterproof version to replace it before I’d got around to binning the other one. This is very similar to Roller Lash, but seems to do more for my lashes at less than half the price.

Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express is my least favourite of the mascaras I’m mentioning in this post, and it’s simply because it hurts my eyes when I apply the mascara. The bristles seem to catch me in all the wrong places and it just hurts. It does add reasonable volume to my lashes, but it’s nothing special. This won’t be a repurchase when I declutter it (because I can’t see myself actually finishing it up).

Urban Decay Perversion is my current favourite. I am in love with how it makes my lashes look and I must use this 5 days out of 7. It leaves my lashes looking fluttery and almost to the point of it being a natural false lash effect. This is just the travel size that came in the Naked On The Run palette but I will definitely be buying this mascara again when I run out!

Maybelline One By One Volum Express is the final Maybelline mascara that is currently in my stash (open or otherwise) and I’m so gutted that it’s discontinued. I bought this from TK Maxx and I regret picking it up because it means I’ll never be able to rebuy. This is a mascara I reach for on a minimal makeup day as it is brown, but I love the volume that it gives to my lashes.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara is one that I’m still yet to make my mind up on. I did use it in a first impressions video and really liked it, but I think it depends on the day as to whether I enjoy using it or not. The wand is almost semi-circle in shape which means it’s a little too big and the product easily transfers onto my lids, but on a day where I have time to do my makeup properly I don’t mind using it.

The mascaras I love tend to come with a bristled wand, rather than a plastic one, and that’s how I can tell I will love a mascara (unless it’s a small curled wand). One of my all time favourites is the No 7 Intense Volume Mascara for this very reason, and I actually have one of these waiting to be opened when the time is right.

What are your current mascaras in rotation? Do you stick to one or are you a fan of mixing it up?
