I’m truly a believer of not having to spend a lot of money to get a good product, and the Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes 2 Palette is a great example of this.
Have you noticed that there are not a lot of matte tones in palettes so you have to use about four palettes for a decent eye look? Well I have now cut that down to two palettes because this gives me perfect crease shades.
I’ll start with the negatives, as there are so few. The applicator is pants; I honestly don’t understand why brands waste their money on including a sponge applicator as they are naff. It’s also not a luxurious feeling palette, but for £4 (yes, £4) what do you expect? As the palette is reasonably sized, a mirror would be nice but I suppose it isn’t an essential unless you’re travelling. It’s also lacking some more transition shades, the lighter colours are very similar to each other and there are two practically identical brown tones right next to each other in the palette.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives when it comes to this palette. The pigmentation is up there with the likes of Urban Decay, and for such a small price it’s definitely worth having in your collection. The second half of the palette is great for a smokey eye if you don’t want a shimmer that a lot of palettes have, and I reach for this more often than my Naked Smoky palette. I also managed to get away with using the lightest shade as an undereye setting powder when I went away recently and left my powder at home! Some of the paler shades are a little chalky, but not unusable. But this palette is definitely worth having just for the deeper and mauve tones.
Let’s be honest, you really can’t go wrong for £4. I need to pick up the original mattes palette but this has more usable colours in my opinion. With very little fallout and great pigmentation, grab this and let it join the likes of your high end palettes!
