Leeds March Meet

On Sunday I had the pleasure of attending a meetup with a bunch of other bloggers organised by Carrieanne in aid of the local food bank. It was free to attend, under the condition that you brought a non-perishable with you as a donation. Personally I think this was a great idea as a tin sets you back no more than 50p and you’re giving to a good cause.

Although on twitter this was tagged as #LeedsMarchMeet, the theme of the event was ‘Rainbows & Unicorns’ and it was treated like a young girl’s birthday party. Pretty much my dream event.

I met Caitlin, Dee and Jemma at the coach station and we went to pick up some tins to take the the event (after both Dee and I annoyingly left our bits at home – I’d even sorted out some skincare samples to take but I guess I’ll be saving them for another time).Whilst we were in the co-op, we bumped into Hayley and all walked to the meet up together.

Since we arrived about 20 minutes early, we sat upstairs and had a drink and a few more people arrived in the lead up to the 1pm start. When we got to go downstairs we were greeted with a wonderland of unicorns, cupcakes and fun crafts. Carrieanne had set up a craft table with tons of stickers so that we could all create name badges, so naturally I got stuck right in. I’m not huge on crafts (I love them, I’m just not artsy in the slightest), but I wanted to design a pretty badge.

I spent most of the time chatting to lovely local bloggers who I chat to on twitter (aka the aforementioned girls, plus Rhianna and Kara) and we just had a lot of fun. We ate cookies, cakes and lollies, played pin the horn on the unicorn, and bought raffle tickets. I believe the raffle fetched around £200 but I’m sure it will be announced soon. All proceeds are going to the local food bank and children’s centre.

I didn’t win anything in the raffle, although Dee, Kara and Jenna cleared up. I did however win best badge prize! Yes, that name badge covered in stickers won me a few little skincare samples, a lolly and a necklace (but as it was Harry Potter themed, I swapped it with Dee for a hair accessory – not that I don’t like HP but she would wear it and it would probably sit gathering dust at mine) which was super lovely.

The time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to leave. We got the most gorgeous goodie bags and I can’t wait to try everything out inside. After the event a few of us went to an Indian Street Food restaurant for drinks/food before we had to head off for the train. I got home about 5:15 in the end and the socialising knackered me out, but I’m always so pleased I get to go to events like this.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Carrieanne for organising such a wonderful afternoon, and all the brands for providing such beautiful goodie bag treats. I’m particularly excited to start using the diary from Toad Diaries for blog planning (which starts next week – perfect!) and the Moo Goo Cover Up Buttercup Moisturiser, especially since it has SPF 15 in! And I’m sure by the time this goes live, my boyfriend will have demolished anything edible so I think he’s going to be thanking Metcalfes pretty soon!
