One of the main reasons I picked up the Feel Unique Advent Calendar was for a highlighter I’ve had my eye on for quite some time – Laura Geller Gelato Swirl in Gilded Honey. I remember so many people raving about this gold highlight a year or two back and have had it on my wishlist for a long time, but at £21 there were highlighters I wanted more. But now I have it, what do I think of it?
Gilded Honey is an ‘effervescent caramel honey‘ shade, which can be applied as a sheer dusting on the high points of the cheeks or can be built up for a more intense glow. Whilst it’s not a winter highlight at all, I can tell I’m going to get a lot of use out of it during the summer. As well as being a gorgeous highlight shade, it also looks gorgeous with a swift swoop over the lids. It can also be intensified by spritzing with the likes of MAC Fix+ or the Mario Badescu Facial Spray, or just dampening the brush with water.
As the product seems tightly packed, I wouldn’t hesitate to travel with this, and I can definitely see myself packing this for my trip to Spain in July (yay for summer sun). This illuminates rather than adds full on glitter to the face which is definitely a quality I look for in highlighters, and I’m super excited to wear this more as the weather warms up.
Whilst I’ve enjoyed the majority of the Laura Geller products I’ve tried, I really don’t rate the packaging. This isn’t the full sized pan of the cult highlight, but if I was paying £21 for this I’d have wanted packaging that wasn’t quite so cheap looking and feeling.
Let’s be honest, I love this highlighter and my eye is firmly on Ballerina as my next Laura Geller purchase. If you don’t mind spending a lot of money for not a lot of product on a highlighter then this is definitely one to keep a look at for and add to your wishlist. Gilded Honey is definitely a good’un.
Which highlighter is your favourite? I’m always on the lookout!
