The Ultimate Overnight Mask: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque

I think I’m having a mask moment on Essential Twenty, and I’m not even sorry. I’m obsessed with trying new face masks and since I’m a beauty blogger it just makes sense to talk about them. So talk about them I will.

Kiehls Front

In the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque* I feel I may have found my holy grail, ride or die, forever repurchase mask, and I’ve only used it a couple of times. It’s that good that I’m willing to make this statement early on.

I’m definitely a lover of an overnight mask so when Kiehl’s popped this over, I was super excited to try it. Although I don’t have particularly dry skin, I do have quite dehydrated skin making it feel tight across the cheeks. I love the Clinique and Origins overnight masks (see this post) so I know what I like from an overnight mask, although this requires a little more prep than just throwing it on your face and sleeping.

The consistency of this mask is a little like a watery hair gel that you smear on your face after cleansing, and the smell is like a faint hair gel scent too (reminds me very much of my ballet days where even hairspray couldn’t hold down my flyaways when my hair was up). You then have to sit in the rather messy mask for 10 minutes, and I do mean sit as it may slide of your face, before blotting with tissue. After you’ve blotted you can then sleep, although I’d say it takes around an hour to dry down enough that you won’t get it all over your pillow (I won’t be using this when I have to share a bed with Jack or he will complain because he can’t stand it when I use hair masks overnight, so this would probably be just as bad). The next morning you just follow with your normal skincare and voila, all done.

But the reason why this face mask is so incredible is that it really penetrates your skin, making it feel plumped and hydrated like no other overnight mask I’ve ever used. Even after washing my face (which I feel can strip my skin sometimes) the morning after using it for the first time, it still felt really soft. I made my mum touch my face around 10 hours after washing it off and it still felt soft, and my skin didn’t feel tight at all.

It is recommended that you use this mask once or twice a week, and believe me, I have been. I honestly can’t believe this is the first Kiehl’s product I’ve tried because I’ve properly fallen in love with it. I can’t wait to get my hands on some more products from them as I am so impressed with this.

Let me know what your favourite overnight masks and Kiehl’s products are, because I need to try them all!
