On Sunday I had the pleasure of attending The Body Shop in Huddersfield for an exclusive look at their new summer launch. I was in hospital back in March when I was invited to their launch of their British Rose range in Leeds so couldn’t make it, maning I was very excited to receive this invitation.
After the success of their Virgin Mojito range last year, The Body Shop have brought out another mocktail scent called Pinita Colada. And it smells exactly like Pina Colada. A few years ago I would’ve hated this smell but recently I’ve been really vibing on pineapple and this is super dreamy.
I met Laura at Huddersfield train station beforehand and walked to Kingsgate with her, then was greeted by Saira (who I met at the Lush event back in March) when I arrived. Upon arrival we were able to mooch around the store and were handed over vouchers for £10 off a £25 shop. We were also shown to a table with tropical drinks and snacks to nibble on whilst we waited for the evening to begin.
After being introduced to the girls working in the store, we split into groups and I stuck with Laura, and Saira, and also joined Isabelle (my eyebrow hero) and her plus one. Our first station was body care. We received a mini hand massage with the new Pinita Colada products – a scrub made with real coconut shred, a shower gel, a body butter and a body sorbet. Let’s just say I had one very smooth hand and one very lackluster one after this treatment.
We were also shown around the spa of the world products which I am yet to try but have heard amazing things about. I really want to try the dead sea salt scrub, the lemongrass massage oil and the Hawaiin kukui cream for an amazing pamper session!
We were also able to have a quick sniff of the new Polynesian Island fragrance which smells super summery. It smelt like another perfume but none of us could place the scent at all. Either way, it was gorgeous and I may be requesting this as a gift if my boyfriend ever fancies treating me.
The next station was makeup, and although I’ve tried a few of The Body Shop’s products my collection is still reasonably small. We were shown the new products which included strobe creams, bronzers and lip stains. Everyone also sampled Instablur but this is a primer that is already in my collection and is pretty similar to Benefit’s The Porefessional.
The next station was skincare which was my favourite part of the evening. We were asked questions and an app told us which products suited our skin and needs. It was like magic! Saira went for the skincare routine on her hand, but I opted for a full on facial.
The products that were suggested for me were the chamomile cleansing balm (which I’ve used before and love), the aloe vera toner, the vitamin E essence lotion, the oils of life facial oil, the oils of life gel cream, the tea tree night cream, and the vitamin C face mist. My face has never felt so loved! When I run out of products (which will be in about ten years from the look of my stash), I will definitely have to make a cheeky purchase of some of these goodies.
Skincare was the final station and this meant we had around half an hour to wander around the store, ask any questions we might’ve had and make a few purchases. I personally didn’t need anything as I went to the reopening two weeks prior and spent a pretty penny then, but I couldn’t not buy anything. I decided you can’t have too many hand creams and bought the Mango one as it smelt beautiful and fruity for summer, and can replace the Glazed Apple one I bought around Christmas.
At the till we were given a lovely little goodie bag containing a few lovely bits, including a second £10 off a £25 shop so I’m sorted for the rest of the year! In the goodie bag was an owl bath sponge, a nail varnish, some deluxe oils of life samples, a mango bar soap, a satsuma hand gel, a few sachets and a mini Pinita Colada body butter. This is so much lighter than the other body butters from the body shop and I can’t wait to use it this summer!
I’d like to say a huge thank you to the girls who hosted the event, and I hope there are more soon! I learnt so much from them and can’t wait to put my knowledge to use.
A very quick side note – I vlogged this event. It’ll be a few weeks until the vlog goes live as I need to finish my degree but I promise the YouTube thing is starting in June and I can’t wait to dive in! If you want to be an early subscriber and know as soon as this goes live then you can find my channel here.
