My absolute favourite thing about coming home to stay with my parents is the fact there is a bath. I hate not having a bath at uni and my two conditions for my next house or flat is that there is a bath and great natural lighting.
Fortunately I get both of these when I’m at home! Apart from when you have your pampers in the evening and sort of forget about photography (hence the slight blueish tinge above)…
The first thing I do is pour myself a drink. Normally it’s a cup of tea, but on this particular day I was all about a glass of wine. I obviously don’t advocate under-age drinking (do as I say, not as I did) but since I’m of legal age I decided to treat myself to a glass of pinot grigio. I also apply a face mask and I’ve been trialling Lush’s Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask recently. I’m sure there will be a review to come because after this first application it did wonders for my skin!
I run myself a really deep bath, and fill it with all the bubbles and bath bombs I can (yes, I literally throw £8 down the drain on a full on pamper evening). I bought Lush’s The Magic of Christmas Bubble Bar a while back and I got The Bomb Cosmetics’ Over The Rainbow Bath Blaster for my birthday, so decided to give these a whirl.
I never worry too much about what scrubs and shower gels I use, but I’ve been using the Sanctuary Gentle Polish Scrub and the Imperial Leather Moisturising Coconut & Tiare Flower Shower Gel as that’s just what I have in the bathroom at the moment. If I was a really good scrub, I tend to lean towards Lush’s Rub Rub Rub or one of the Soap & Glory ones (The Breakfast Scrub is probably my favourite scent). To me, shower gel is just shower gel and when I’m at home I use whatever my mum has bought on offer at the time. You’ll quite often find shower gels that have been bought whilst reduced to 20p in our bathroom!
As well as applying a face mask, I love to use a hair mask. I don’t have a favourite but I’ve been trying to get through this mammoth tub of Henna Hair Conditioner which only cost £1 at savers. It doesn’t do anything magical but for £1 you can’t really complain as it does nourish it a little. I tend to leave this on for about 10 minutes if it’s a quick bath, or if I have time to wash it off the following morning I leave it on overnight.
Whilst I’m in the bath, I love continuing with whatever television show I’m watching at the time. If you follow me on twitter you’ll know that I’m loving Full House at the moment which has all 8 seasons on Netflix, and since taking the photos for the post I’ve watched another couple of seasons. I’m obsessed. John Stamos in the late 80s/early 90s is currently my life. To set this up I grab the chair from the spare bedroom and leave it by the bath. I have been known to stay in the bath for over an hour (keeping it topped up with hot water) just to watch an extra episode of a series.
Once I’m out the bath, I pull on my favourite Joules Slippers and the cosiest M&S Dressing Gown (which my boyfriend says is the least flattering piece of clothing I own) and settle down to watch more tv and scroll through social media. There is often a bar of chocolate close to hand at this point as well. I don’t take too many bath selfies or tweet too much as I’m too scared to drop my phone in the water!
And today I have to head back to uni, back to just a shower. Chances are I’ll be posting a shower pamper routine in the near future for those who don’t have a bath, but I much prefer my home routine!
