Holiday Makeup Picks

Holiday Makeup | Essential Twenty

As this post goes live, I should, fingers crossed, be sat on a plane at Stansted Airport ready to take off for 8 days in Spain with my family and Jack. I’ve not had a holiday since America, and I’ve not had a beach holiday since 2012 so this is much needed! Whilst I’m not taking a lot of makeup with me, these are three products, as well as the lipstick options, that are definitely going in my suitcase.

I drink so much water on holiday that my skin always looks pretty good so I don’t often bother with foundation – I’ll just sweat it all off anyway! However, I will be taking the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer which is a lovely undereye concealer that is still pretty lightweight. I’ve been using this for a couple of years and whilst it’s not my favourite, it’s not a bad shout for a holiday.

Whilst I love my big palettes, they’re just very bulky considering I’m travelling hand luggage only. Instead of taking a huge palette with me when I’ll just be going for a neutral eye look, I’m going to take the Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette in . It’s got the neutral colours that I’m after and won’t take up a lot of space which will be a luxury. I may have to take a matte crease colour, but I’m pretty sure I’ve got a deep walnut shade from Natural Collection that I can take.

To set everything down in the 30+ degree heat, I’ll be taking my trusty Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray*. It’s the only product that keeps makeup on my face all day, and fortunately I have this in travel size. I’m almost out of this size, so I may need to repurchase the smaller one for when I go to France. Setting sprays are definitely a must for holiday and I won’t be going anywhere without it.

When I go away, I’m usually a braver with lip colours. I tend to go bright, and quite often glossy, so the two bright options I’ll be taking with me are the Soap & Glory Matte Lip in Fire Cracker (full review here), the Clinique Cherry Pop lipstick. And of course I can’t go away without a nude lipstick, and I’ve packed the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Dolce which has been a favourite of late. It’s a peachy nude that I’m just in love with.

I’m mainly going to be giving my face a break when I’m away, but it’s nice to have the option to dress up a little in the evening so my case is pretty packed out with products, but not quite as many as there usually is when I go away in the UK. What are your must have makeup products when you go away?
