Why My Holiday Isn’t All Over Social Media

Why My Holiday Isn’t All Over Social Media

Here I am, 8:30am on my first day of blogging post-holiday. I have a new laptop, a lot of great post ideas and I’m starting as a bit of a Debbie Downer. I had all these wonderful plans around putting together photo diaries, and talking about my favourite places to visit in the Costa Blanca (this was my 9th trip there as we’ve had friends living out there for the past decade) but when I actually got to Spain, I just wanted to chill.

I took a grand total of 8 photos – 1 a day – when I was in Spain and to be honest, I went on this holiday for a break. In 2 years of blogging (which I will be talking about at a later date, although I do have a giveaway live on my twitter right now which you should definitely enter), I haven’t taken a break since I went to America. We’re talking 23 months of blogging, or doing something related to blogging, everything single day. And it’s hard work!

I wanted to be able to dip my toe into the world of travel blogging, and maybe I will one day, but this holiday was not the time. It was mine and Jack’s first trip abroad together and I just wanted to spend time with family and friends. I chilled by the pool, I visited some of my favourite haunts (a lot of these were mentioned by Emmie in this post) and I got my tan on. I read, I experienced culture and I almost completely switched off.

Of course I didn’t stay away from my phone for too long, and did still schedule a few tweets but I’ve got to get those blog views somehow. But now I’m back, refreshed, not suffering from any sort of blogger burnout (which I was definitely heading towards) and ready to blog my way through summer.

I’m off work for the next 5 weeks and I’m back to blogging daily from today. If there is anything you’d like me to talk about in the near future, shoot me a message.I’ll be back to writing beauty, putting together a couple of haul posts, sharing my wishlists and chatting about some more shows. I’ve got a couple of giveaways coming up too so keep an eye out for those!

Thanks for sticking around whilst I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, but I’m back and ready for anything!

  • I think it’s important to take time off. Off from work, blogging & life in general. I feel like with everything we do we are even more exposed to having a burnout. x

  • I can’t believe you’ve never taken a break before! I’ve been blogging for 2 years now and I’ve taken at least a month over over the course of those two years (usually in 1 or 2 week increments) It’s so important to give yourself a break or you will burn out, so I’m glad you gave yourself that break! But it’s good to have you back 🙂 x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x
