Come on, we all know that I’m a liquid lipstick lover. There is nothing better than a lipstick that stays all day, and the majority of liquid lipsticks do! During the Black Friday Sales, these Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks were 20% off (I think it was months ago so don’t quote me on that..maybe it was 30%, I don’t know) and after hanging on for so long I decided I had to own them. It took me the longest time to finally try these out, but over the Christmas period I got to test their true lasting power and can finally share what I thought about them with you.
The packaging looks better on camera than it actually is. I always thought these looked super luxurious and would be a pleasure to have stashed away, but they feel really cheap when you handle them. The tube is frosted plastic, which is a little irritating as you can’t see the true product colour (it’s a good thing you can only buy these online as it would throw me off so much in store), and the cap is also plastic. I was expecting it to feel a little more expensive, but clearly I was expecting wrong.
I’ve known for months which shades I’ve wanted from the collection, but veered clear because of the drama surrounding the brand (if you don’t know, just google the scandal). Now it seems to have settled and people have forgotten about it, I thought it was time to try these out as they have been calling my name for the longest time.
I’ve had my eye on 1995 for absolutely ages. I feel like it’s one of the more well known shades from Gerard Cosmetics and was quite frequently out of stock. This is obviously a very ‘me’ shade if you know what shades I usually pick up. Brown toned nudes are my go to, and this fits firmly in that category, with it being similar in shade to MAC Whirl, just a little more red toned.
Whenever I’d ask Hayley or Katie which lipstick they were wearing, it would always be Cher. On them, it was the perfect pinky-purpley-off nude colour, but one me it just looked like a slight off nude. It’s beautiful nonetheless, it just wasnt what I was expecting it to look like.
The formula across the two shades was consistent, so I’d like to believe that it’ll be the case for all of the shades in the collection (but we all know that’s never the case). These lipsticks last a decent amount of time, even through eating a drinking. I’d give them about 7 hour wear time which is pretty standard for most matte liquid lipsticks. These are incredibly comfortable on the lips, and definitely a product I’d buy again in a different colour. I’m eyeing up Boss Lady as my next purchase and when there’s another discount opportunity, I will be jumping on that!
Have you tried any of these lipsticks? Or any other Gerard Cosmetic products? Let me know what I need in my stash.
