My skincare regime has taken a bit of a dive recently. Yes, I am holding my hands up to say that I am really pants at skincare. Sure, I always remove my makeup at night (currently with my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser) and wash my face in the morning. I even apply moisturiser…sometimes. Okay I admit it, I’m terrible. But one step I haven’t been missing out is the exfoliation step, and that’s all thanks to the Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant*.
Gentle enough to use every day but harsh enough to give your face a good scrub, this new launch from Dermalogica has become a staple for me recently although a bit of a pain to use. This scrub is designed to be used after cleansing, but since I do all my cleansing in the shower it doesn’t really work.
The Daily Superfoliant comes in as a charcoal powder which forms a paste when wet – great for when you’re just by your bathroom sink, but not so great in the shower. Around a teaspoons of product combined with very wet hands creates a paste to be massaged into your face for around a minute before washing off.
Containing ingredients that help exfoliate both physically and chemically, along with anti-inflammatory, purifying and cleansing properties, Dermalogica have definitely ticked all the boxes I’ve been looking for in an exfoliant. This quick bonus step makes your face feel incredibly smooth, and gets rid of all the nasties! Since I work in a lab I don’t really know what I’m exposed to each day, so this feels like a great extra bonus step to really cleanse my skin. If you’re living in a big city and are exposed to pollutants every day then you’re missing out not having this in your routine. This product is gentle enough to use daily, but I personally use it every other day as it started to feel a little bit stripping with daily use. Don’t forget to use SPF though as this can break down some natural protection you have.
Since it’s Dermalogica, it does have a little bit of a larger price tag (£55 for 57g) than I would usually use but it’s a pretty special product and definitely the best facial exfoliant I’ve tried. Will you be picking this up? Or do you have another ride or die facial scrub that I have to know about?
