    Eugenius Closing Night

Eugenius, Closing Night | Essential Twenty

I’m writing this far later than I had planned. I mean, I attended closing night over two weeks ago! But after a knockout run at The Other Palace, I had to discuss what I thought about the cult favourite Eugenius. This is one of the hottest new shows that the theatre community cannot stop talking about, and had an almost unheard of number of sold out shows during its 6 week run. Unfortunately I was busy for most of the run, but I made it to closing night after hearing weeks of raving from the theatre community, and I wanted to throw my thoughts into the ring.

Bat Out Of Hell, Press Launch

Bat Out Of Hell, Press Launch | Essential Twenty

Bat Out Of Hell has had a pretty rocking go of it over the past year all so. From Manchester tryouts, to the London Coliseum and onto Toronto, Bat Out Of Hell is back in the capital at the Dominion Theatre for audiences to enjoy all over again. And this girl right here was invited to the press launch earlier this week. I know!

    Pippin Review, Southwark Playhouse

Pippin, Southwark Playhouse | Essential Twenty

It’s been a long time since I went to the theatre and smiled as hard as I did when I was at Pippin over the weekend. Transferring from Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester (somewhere I’m hoping to take a trip to this spring to finally see Spring Awakening), Pippin is playing at the Southwark Playhouse for four weeks only. Well now you’ve only got a couple of weeks to get your bums there and I’m going to tell you exactly why you need to take the trip.

    Review: 42nd Street

    42nd Street | Essential Twenty

I’m so excited to be able to review 42nd Street today because I’ve wanted to see this show since it opened in the Spring. It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen what most people would consider to be a musical, and it was some much needed therapy for me.

    The Woman In White Review

The Woman In White | Essential Twenty
We all know I love a theatre trip around these parts, and one of my 2018 goals is to see 24 shows over the year. Well your girl is getting on top of this target early because I’d seen 2 before the first week of the year was over. On Saturday I had one of my classic two show days, and my first was a visit to Charing Cross Theatre to see The Woman In White.

    The Toxic Avenger

The Toxic Avenger | Essential Twenty

Look at me with two play reviews in a row. Let’s pretend it’s nothing to do with the fact that I’m rubbish at posting at the moment (does not bode well for blogmas which starts in just TWO DAYS – panic mode is setting in). On Saturday I was in London for a whopping 13 hours and I spent Sunday recovering. Definitely shouldn’t have been out in the winter weather all day with a mammoth cold which has turned into time off work. Now I rarely take a trip to the capital without a theatre tip thrown in, and that was the case this weekend too. This time, The Toxic Avenger.
