Here I am, 8:30am on my first day of blogging post-holiday. I have a new laptop, a lot of great post ideas and I’m starting as a bit of a Debbie Downer. I had all these wonderful plans around putting together photo diaries, and talking about my favourite places to visit in the Costa Blanca (this was my 9th trip there as we’ve had friends living out there for the past decade) but when I actually got to Spain, I just wanted to chill.
It’s that time of year again where Hayley (one of my blogging baes and we’re actually going on holiday together this summer – eek) has launched her annual Bloggers Blog Awards. I was a judge on the dating category and was lucky enough to attend last year, and this year I’m judging the food category and will hopefully attend again this year. However, it’s been less than a week since the nominations opened and I am sick to the back teeth of people asking to be nominated. There are a number of reasons why I won’t nominate you if you beg, and that’s what today’s post is all about (as well as hyping up the awards because I’m so excited).
I’ve been on the blogging scene on and off for a number of year, but Essential Twenty has been around for around 18 months now. Pretty good going if you ask me! When I was setting up my blog, I um-ed and ah-ed about whether it was best to go with Blogger or WordPress, and all the sites said WordPress as eventually you can own your own site. What I didn’t realise was that for any real customisation ability you have to do this. And I thought it was expensive…until this weekend. Welcome to the new and improved Essential Twenty.
It’s no surprise to anybody reading this that I love makeup, and am pretty damn addicted to buying makeup. But as I said in my new year’s resolutions, I need to start saving money and stop spending. This year I need to cut down my stash but since I’m too much of a hoarder, I’m not just going to give it away. I’m going to make it my aim to finish up as many products that I can, without buying new ones…with a few exceptions.
It’s officially 2017! Just two more days until most of us at back to work so I hope that you’re making the most of these last couple of days (and if you work in retails or the food business, I apologise). I had a pretty great 2016 after graduating, getting a job and really beginning to grow my blog which is really exciting, but I’m determined to make 2017 even better!
And talking about growing my blog, what sort of blogger would I be if I didn’t set a few targets for the year? This post is all about my targets in my personal and blogging life, which hopefully I can fulfil this year. Before anybody asks, this New Year’s Resolution sheet was in the most recent Box of Lame, and if you love it go support That Lame Company by picking up some of their other wonderful pieces.
