I don’t need to tell you that I love makeup. Like, this is a serious love affair that isn’t ending anytime soon (sorry Jack). It’s pretty to look at and hold and I enjoy spending my hard earned cash on it. However, there are a few brands that I never really try much from and I really want to dip my toe into their pond (that sounds a little cheekier than I intended, oh well). Inspired by Katie’s post, I have put together a few brands that I’m dying to try more of in 2017.
Too Faced are one of those brands that everyone talks about, but noone in the UK seems to have a ton of products from. Sure, the Too Faced Melted Liquefied Lipsticks are stunning (and I’ve reviewed them here) and everyone loves the eyeshadow palettes and the Born This Way Foundation, but I don’t think we’re hit our Too Faced peak in the UK. I only have the Cat Eyes Palette (review) in terms of eyeshadow from them, but my heart is firmly set on picking up the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette or the Sweet Peach Palette this year. I’d also love to see what the hype behind the foundation is at some point, but I have a few other foundations that are a little higher on my list to try before checking this one out.
When NYX first hit the UK, I got my hands on a couple of bits but I really didn’t know what to try from the brand. Now we’re used to the brand and I can finally get hold of the colours I’ve been after for the longest time, I need to try some more of these products out. I’m not the biggest fan of their Soft Matte Lip Creams (review), but I love the couple of other lip products I’ve tried besides the Butter Glosses, because I’m not a gloss fan. This year I need to get my hands on their Strobe of Genius Palette and their Matte Finish Setting Spray which shouldn’t be too difficult since I can find NYX in both of my local Boots stores.
A brand I am very late to the party on is Tarte. When I was in the States, I boughta Sephora lip sets which included a Tarte lipstick that was definitely not my colour. I passed it straight onto my mum then never thought about the brand again, until all the hype surrounding the Tartelette In Bloom Palette. I tried to get my hands on recently it was sold out. Fortunately I was able to get my hands on the original Tartelette Palette (along withloads more products in boxing day sale extravaganza). So far I’m very impressed, but need to have a little more of a play before I let you know my full opinion. But 2017 could be the year I really get to know Tarte a little better, with my eye on the aforementioned Tartelette In Bloom Palette, Shape Tape Concealer and Rainforest of the Sea Foundation.
It’s pretty obvious that Colour Pop has become one of those ‘must have’ brands in the blogging world. I’ve previously tried their Mile High Eyeshadow Set (review) which I love, but I need more in my life! I have my eye on their highlighters, more of their shadows and of course all of their lip products. The only thing that is stopping me from buying more of their products is that you have to pay customs and Royal Mail charge £8 just for the privilege of even paying the customs charge. I really need to take advantage of my family in America to get them to send me things, but I feel bad for asking so I never do. Maybe I will this year!
I never really understood everyone’s fascination with high end lipsticks until around 2 years ago. To be fair, I never wore lipstick until about 3 years ago, but I thought drugstore did the trick fine when I did get into it a little more. The more into makeup I’ve got, the more I’ve realised the important of a great lipstick formula. This is why I now get heart palpitations when I look at the like of Tom Ford lipsticks. Holy moly are they pricey, but the colours are stunning and I’ve heard nothing but incredible things. This year is the year that I’m going to treat myself to one of those little beauties (and hope I don’t get addicted and spend all my wages on Tom Ford).
On the same wavelength as Tom Ford, sort of, is Charlotte Tilbury. I’ve only ever tried one product from Charlotte Tilbury – the Very Victoria lipstick – and now I want to get my hands on many more. I still have my heart set on getting the shades Glastonberry, Bond Girl and Birkin Brown from the Matte Revolution lipstick collection, as well as dipping my toe into the eyeshadow pool as the palettes are truly stunning.
Kat Von D
Kat Von D is another highly raved about brand that we can finally get in the UK, and now it’s landed I need to get my hands on a few more goodies. I currently have three shades of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and I love each one of them, but I’m dying to purchases some more, with my eye on Lolita II, Damned and Vampira. I’d also love to try both the Shade & Light Contour Palette and the Shade & Light Eye Palette, as well as the cult classic Tattoo Liner.
