You know when sometimes you hear a product so hyped up that you can’t quite believe it’s as good as everyone says that it is. That was me with Champagne Pop. And then I got it firmly in my grasp and can finally understand all the hype.
I was a bit hesitant to buy it due to the hefty price tag (the most expensive highlighter I’ve owned before this was MAC Soft & Gentle, and even then I bought it in a CCO in America), but when I had a little bit of cash left over from my student loan I thought I’d treat myself.
Yes it’s expensive, but can we just look at the colour and pigmentation on this bad boy? This was one swipe with my finger in the pan and I am in love.
Now, I’m not going to say that this is a highlighter that everyone needs. Because there are people who won’t like how shimmery this is, or how gold it is, or the price. The price still makes my heart skip a little beat whenever I think of it. But it is a beautiful highlight.
It is so finely milled and it something that you can really build up. You know how people say Urban Decay shadows are creamy? It’s like that, but in highlight form. I am a little concerned about having to travel with it though, just because of how finely milled it is. Let’s just say the only place it is moving is from my uni flat to my parents’ house when I move home next week (sob), and even then it’s getting bubble wrapped and is going in my handbag.
I am so desperate to get my hands on Prosecco Pop when then is released, and I also want Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors in Moonstone and Opal. This is my first ever Becca product and I have been well and truly won over. However, again pricing means I won’t be buying them anytime soon. Unemployed graduate right here!
If you’re not prepared to splash out a rather large sum of money, I’d definitely recommend the Mary-Lou Manizer by TheBalm. It is similar in consistency although a little chunkier, similar in colour (maybe not quite as gold), and almost half the price! Unfortunately my Mary Lou broke in transit from Huddersfield to Peterborough back in June so I don’t use it as often as I would like, but it is still an amazing shade.
For me, this is a great purchase. I love highlighters at the moment and I love using it. I know it was supposed to be limited edition, but it’s become permanent and with the success of this product, it isn’t moving off the shelves (other than into people’s baskets) anytime soon.
