AM/PM Routine Tag

When I was clearing out my draft posts aka deciding what to post one day and what to send to blog post heaven, I spotted that I’d started this tag a few of months ago and hadn’t finished it. Well I’m going to change that today.

I got this idea after seeing Rebecca post it, and I thought it was the sort of tag that was both informative but also fun for me to think about and hopefully fun for you to read.

In the AM
What is your morning beauty routine?
I tend to shower, use whatever face wash I have in the shower (currently Soap & Glory Face Soap & Clarity) with my Magnitone then once I’m out I have a pretty simple skincare routine. Since I’ve washed my face, I don’t bother cleansing but I do often use my Lush Tea Tree Toner, and then whatever eye cream and moisturiser I have on the go (currently the same ones as in this post). I’m pretty low maintenance in the morning.

What’s for breakfast?
I usually can’t be bothered with breakfast (that’s so bad), but if I do eat it tends to be porridge, cocoa pops or weetabix.

Coffee or tea?
I’m a tea girl. I take it weak and black if you’re offering.

How long does it take to get out the door?
I have been known to wake up and make it out of the door in 8 minutes before (first year of university), but if I am washing my hair and doing a full face up makeup it can be anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour.

What is your go-to makeup look on a fuss-free morning?
On a fuss free morning I won’t wear makeup, and just stick to my Soap & Glory Translucent BB Cream. If I have to wear makeup I tend to go for the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and Seventeen Long Lash Mascara*. I’m pretty confident not wearing makeup to be honest.

In the PM
What is your evening beauty routine?
My every day evening beauty routine is an eye makeup remover, followed by a micellar water and a cream or oil cleanser. As I’m writing this those are currently the Clinique Take The Day Off, Boots Botanics Micellar Water and the Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser (I don’t rate any of these particularly but I’m trying to use them up – my favourites are actually the Simple eye makeup remover, Garnier Micellar water and The Body Shop’s Camomile Cleansing Butter but I don’t have any of these right now). I then use a night cream and an eye cream, which is currently Ren V-Cense and Boots Simply Sensitive. If I’m feeling a bit more pampery, I may use a face mask (usually a hydrating one such as the Una Brennan Superfacialist Rose Intense Moisture Mask), a Bioré Pore Strip, and I may use an oil or a serum too. Although these final steps tend to be a lot less frequent.

Snack time! What’s in the bowl?
It depends how bad I feel like eating. If I’m with my boyfriend it’s usually Cadbury Dairy Milk Giant Chocolate Buttons, although in the summer I like to eat a fruit salad as it’s a little more refreshing.

How do you wind down and prep for bed?
I run the hottest bath possible with a whole host of Lush products if I need a real relaxation session. I quite often then just cosy up under the duvet with netflix or a book until I physically can’t keep my eyes open anymore. I’m currently reading both The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Emotional Agility* by Susan David and watching Orange Is The New Black on Netflix.

Cozy up! What are you wearing to sleep?
I hang around the house in cosy pyjamas – usually fluffy ones – and a dressing gown which is identical to Anna‘s (if you know it, you know it), but when I get into bed I whip of the trousers and sleep in just a top and pants. I feel so much more comfortable without anything around my waist!

What are some things you must do before hitting the hay?
I set my alarm for the morning, grab a glass of water to take to bed with me, apply a final layer of moisturiser and hand cream (currently using my EOS Hand Lotion in Berry Blossom) then take off my pyjama bottoms. I’m pretty low maintenance to be honest.
