I’ve got a slightly different foodie Friday post today, more along the lines of a review. But it did involve baking!
At the weekend, my boyfriend was craving brownies. I have a go-to recipe but it was cheaper to buy Paul Hollywood’s Luxurious Belgian Chocolate Brownie kit than to buy cocoa powder, so that’s what we did. I bet you can guess by the title that it didn’t go too well…
It’s a pretty easy kit to use – just add 3 eggs and 150g of butter. then bake at 190 for 20-25 minutes. We added chjcolate chips on top too as we had some in the flat. Except it didn’t work out the way I’d have liked.
Because it’s supposed to be fudgy on the inside, when I popped a skewer in I assumed it was cooked enough. That was until I turned it out. I cooked it a it more but still no luck. So we had a fudgy mess as seen below.
It got to the point where we cooked it for so long that the outside burnt and it still wasn’t cooked in the centre! I’m going to stick to cooking my own recipes from now on because they always work out much better than packet mixes for me. Sorry Paul Hollywood, I’ll be sticking to your recipes, not your mixes!
